I know there have to be some Michigan fans reading The Pappy today! So this one is for you!!
Becky wrote in to nominate her husband Kevin! Check out their shirts and then read what she had to say!
Father to two sons, Sloan (2) and Sawyer (10 weeks). He’s so patient and loving.
Kevin waited almost half his life to be a dad and thank goodness he found me to share in the blessing of parenthood.
We decided to keep him home because he had to wait so long to be a dad and I didn’t want him to miss one moment.
He’s a gift.
And The best.
HECK YEAH from one Stay at home dad to another!!! WAHOOOO!
Today is #throwbackthursday so we are reaching way back with our picture of today’s Pappy of the Day!
Should I also lead with the fact that his family calls him Dougie Fresh? You can’t throw it back much further than that!
Doug Smith is Today’s Oral-B Life of Dad #PowerOfDad Pappy of the Day. Despite the humor, he is a seriously great Dad!
I am a firm believer in the fact that those who love our Dads say it best, so here is what his daughter Nicole had to say:
There’s a shortage today of amazing fathers. The kind of Father’s who don’t just stroke you a check to appease you until the next thing. No, I’m talking about the kind of Father who gives of his time. Children want your time. Today I honor a man who has faithfully given of his time to my brother and I. He has rolled around on the floor playing with us as kids, went to every single sporting event we ever participated in as teens, and faithfully encourages and supports us as adults. He now repeats the same pattern as a grandpa. His three grandsons adore him. “Dougie Fresh” you’re the best dad/grandpa in the world. Thank you for putting that love into action. We love you so much Dad.
There is an Air Force prayer that reads in part, ” Lord guard and guide the men who fly, Through the great spaces of the sky, Be with them as they take to air, In morning light and sunshine fair. Eternal Father, strong to save, Give them courage, make them brave, Protect them whereso’er they go, From shell and flak and fire and foe.”
Those who put their lives in harms way to protect the Freedoms we hold so dear are all heros. To risk your life for those who you have never met is one thing, however I feel that fighting for those you hold the most dear must light a special fire in their belly. I would risk everything to safeguard the lives of my children, and during his service Michael has risked it all for his family and his country.
Saying thank you to our service members almost seems cliche because it is such a small gesture. I hope recognition as a supreme Father serves as a thank you to Michael. We appreciate your service and thank you for all you have given up in service to your country.
Here is what his wife, Kim has to say about him:
Michael is a loving, devoted & loyal dad. He leads by example by living his life by putting God 1st, then family and then his country. He serves in the United States Air Force and is Owner/Operator of Turtle DJ Entertainment, but is never too busy to give hugs & kisses or chase the kids around the house & play with them. If anyone is in a bad mood or having a bad day, he will be the one to make them laugh. He puts everything of his on hold to change Cassidy’s oil in her car, go to the boys’ baseball games, help with homework and play the same card game with Jordan over and over again. There is nothing Michael wouldn’t do for his kids. He is a true hero and one to be looked up to and admired.
Just as an aside, our Twitter Party today was EPIC! We even trended Number One! I want to thank each of you who helped make that happen. It was sweet to show that Dads can really bring people together.
That said… on to what you have all been holding your breath to find out… Today’s Pappy of the Day is Justin Gagnon.
Justin is a Father of one with a bun on the way! He also loyally serves our country which we should all be so thankful for.
The following commentary is courtesy of his wife, Dana:
Not many women can say they met their soul mate when they were 16, but I am so blessed to be able to. Justin is not only an amazing, loving husband and best friend but he is such an awesome dad to our little boy. We thought we had it all when we set out to be parents, we were young, crazy in love, had stable jobs and owned our home…God had other plans. Parenthood did not come easy for us. We struggled for two and a half years to conceive and through it all Justin was my rock. He never once wavered in his faith, and knew we would be parents. God blessed us with our first son after that long struggle, and Justin has been such an amazing dad. Logan is so full of life and laughter, so much of that comes from him. When we started talking about trying to conceive again I just knew it would be a battle but Justin once again leaned on his faith. We were blessed to conceive very quickly the second time and we are now expecting our second little boy this July. I cannot wait for my sons to see what a Godly man Justin is and to learn from him as they grow. My hope is that they will one day be like their father and have such an unwavering faith. Justin is so smart, has an infectious laugh, and is such a geek. I say that in the most loving way because I’m a geek too. We are blessed to have him as the head of our family and love him so much!
Thank you for being a role model for Dads everywhere, Justin!
It is Monday and we are back with The Pappy of the Day! Wooohooo!!!
Today’s Pappy is Chris Gardner. Today is also his birthday, so a very special shout out to him!
The following is from his wife, Amanda.
Christopher Gardner is an amazing husband and wonderful father. Not only does he work fulltime for the Navy, serve in our church, make time for his friends, and the 100 other things he has to do in a day, he always manages to make our kids and myself feel like we are the most important people in the world. He cherishes every moment he has with us and showers us with his love. Watching him play and laugh with our children brings the biggest smile to my face and melts my heart because I know we are truly blessed to have him in our lives. I pray our son grows up to be just like his dad and that our daughter will marry a man who loves and spoils her as much as her daddy does. We love him so much. I am so honored that God chose Chris to be the love of my life and the wonderful father of our children.
