We all need a little Dad Time…

Happy Father’s Day Pappies.  I hope everyone is having a great day.

Things have been crazy in my house with two sick kids.  My “Day” was spent cleaning up puke, but hey, I got a lot of cuddles also so I’m really not complaining.  It is all about taking the good with the bad.  And speaking of the good…

One of my Father’s Day gifts that I have already been neck deep in was a book from Max Lucado.  I have been a big fan of his writing since I was in High School so when I saw his new book “Dad Time” I was super pumped.

Basically it takes snipets from his writings that are all about Fatherhood and puts them all in one place.  I am an avid reader, but there are times when I need a little quick inspiration to move forward through the day and this is going to be my new go to book.

Another thing Lucado deserves credit for is acknowledging Adoptive parents.  I am adopted and plan to adopt kids and I was really moved by the following quote which is found on page 121 and is reprinted from the book The Great House of God:

Adoptive parents understand God’s passion to adopt us. They know what it means to feel and empty space inside.  They know what it means to hunt, to set out on a mission, and to take responsibility for a child with a spotted past and a dubious future.  If anybody understands God’s ardor for his children, it’s someone who has rescued an orphan from despair, for that is what God has done for us.

Typing that out I am almost moved to tears, as I was when I first read it.

I am lucky enough that Thomas Nelson Publishing has given me an additional 3 copies of this book to give away!  So click the link below to enter.
